Is Michigan crashing and burning? And is Georgetown’s stock just rising?

After watching the dismal display Michigan put on the last 10 minutes of their contest with Penn State I only could say to myself is…”Did that just happen”.  It really did Michigan fans, no bad nightmare where you can wake yourself up and say “Ohh man”, Penn State just outplayed you in the last part of the game.  But turning the ball over 15 times leading to 20 points scored when they punished Michigan for mistakes will kill anyone.  Trey Burke who cashed in for 18pts, turned the ball over 6 times… well over his 1.5 turnovers he has a game all year really hurt the Wolverines at the end of the evening.  Jermaine Marshall had probably the game of his career for the Nittany Lions scoring 25pts, 6rebs, 3 assists, 2 steals & a block to add up to his outburst on the #4 Wolverines.  A big win on senior night for Penn State.

Michigan has to execute their possessions much better down the stretch to be a danger in the NCAA.  I still believe they have a lot of talented stars besides Burke (Hardaway Jr, Stauskas, McGary, Robinson III) but gotta make big shots down the stretch.  I have watch them in big games this year and they are (2-4 in key match-ups).  Still think they are a second weekend team when it’s all said and done.

For a moment there I thought we were going to have a marathon game in Gampel Pavillion between #7 Georgetown & UCONN.  It lived up to my pick of Game of the Night, Otto Porter Jr is putting himself in the talks of being the Big East Player of the Year.  This kid is unbelievable and can do it on both ends of the floor for the Hoyas.  They have passed my eye test and continue to become more and more dangerous down the stretch.  Shabazz Napier, Ryan Boatright and DeAndre Daniels were huge for UConn. Just not enough at the end to uphend our 2nd victim for a potential upset.

Georgetown’s stock is going up and up and I would not be shocked to see them on the #1 line come Selection Sunday.  Oh I forgot about the gauntlet they still have to go through in MSG for the Big East tournament… trust me John Thompson III knows Georgetown is on teams’ like Louisville, Syracuse, Marquette and Notre Dame’s radar.
